We are so excited to have been in business for 6 months now! We have been a part of many birthday parties, baby showers, wedding showers, and weddings! Who knows what the next 6 months will bring!

We have been busy working on cakes and coming up with new treats for you! Including one of our favorites, chocolate chip cookie dough sandwiches! Yes, I said cookie dough! Two chocolate chip cookies that have cookie dough in the middle. If you are a cookie dough fanatic like us, you will love this!

We are already dreaming of fall and all that it brings, cool weather, pretty leaves and holidays! Halloween and Thanksgiving are two of our favorite holidays. We are ready to start baking our seasonal cake flavors: apple cinnamon and gingerbread, now gingerbread will be more for Christmas, but we will have it as a rotating flavor for you to try and love so you can have it at your holiday parties!

We have big plans for Thanksgiving with pies! We will offer pumpkin, chess, fudge, pecan, and dutch apple. Are there any more favorites that you would like to see? Shoot us an email if there are! Send it here: melinda@brownsugarcakeroom.com

Following our favorite season of fall, will be another favorite Christmas! We are already trying to figure out ways to make things easier on you during a hectic time of gift buying and parties. We will offer our “hot cocoa” cookies in jars wrapped up with directions so that you can bake them at home!  Give it as gifts for a hostess or your favorite baker in your family! They will love them! We do! We will also have them in the shop so that you can try them as well!

We better get back to baking now!

Don’t forget to send us an email if you have ideas for us, as we prepare to make your holiday season a little bit sweeter!

Next, Wednesday, July 4th, we will be closed in observance of the holiday. We will reopen, Thursday, July 5th at 8:30, like normal.

We will be doing special 4th of July cupcakes and cakes! Order some of your favorites for your holiday celebration and save yourself some time! We will be open Tuesday, July 3rd, for pick ups for your festive desserts!

We hope you have a great and safe 4th of July!

Don’t forget to order a cake or cupcakes for your Mother’s day celebration! Save your mom some time and get a cake, so she doesn’t have to make dessert! Who wouldn’t love that?

Starting Wednesday, March 21, we will be closing at pm. We are closing early, so that our family can make it to church on time. 🙂 If you don’t have a church to call your own, join us at Bethlehem Free Will Baptist in Ashland City. We would love to have you!

We are so excited to be open! We thank each one of you that has stopped in to buy a sweet treat or just to say “hi” and give us encouragement! We are so thankful!

If you were to walk down the sidewalks of The Pleasant View Village and look into the window of an empty shop, you would see a bright teal sign that says: “Bakery Coming Soon!” We are thrilled to announce that Brown Sugar Cake Room will have a storefront! We are hoping to open February 1, 2012. A few months ago when we took this ‘leap of faith’ I would never have said that I would be the owner of MY very own BAKERY! This has been my dream and passion since I graduated high school. I always knew I wanted to have my own shop one day and see the joy on the faces of the people who order a cake when it is exactly what they imagined.

Come visit us when we open! Or, peek through the windows and watch our progress, while we are getting ready for the big day!

Thank you for all of your encouragement so far, and all of the orders that you have been giving us, that have gotten us to this point! Without you, this wouldn’t be possible!

Spread the word! Brown Sugar Cake Room is “COMING SOON!”

As we approach the  upcoming holidays, I have been busy working on some cute cake pops to have as a centerpiece for your dessert table. I am very pleased with the results, and cannot wait to show them off at our family dinners. We have become very addicted to cake pops around here, and love to enjoy them for any celebration we have.

So, without further adieu, here are the turkeys:

The Christmas spirit is among us, and we have been loving these little tree cake pops!

Happy Thanksgiving & Merry Christmas!

This week has been filled with orders! Thankful for a busy week, we started off making some cakes for one of our friends for a baby shower. We neglected to capture it on film, so I can only describe it. We made 2 cakes, white cake with cookies ‘n cream icing and decorated it with a baby owl sitting on a tree branch, for baby girl Buck.

Next, it is one of my favorite teenager’s birthday! Megan has become a special friend. We met Megan when we led E-Team this summer. We were on separate teams, but to see her lead others and be an encouragement, encouraged me. She turned 17 this week and her favorite thing right now is owls. So, we made her an owl made of cupcakes, and because I love all things cake pops, we made some owl pops.

We also made a purse cake this week. This is probably one of our favorite cakes to make. This first time we made this cake was in New York with Elisa Straus of Confetti Cakes. This cake was for a lady who loves purses and purple. We covered the cake in chocolate fondant, (it tastes like tootsie roll!) and added gum paste decorations for the handle, trim, and flowers. She loved it!

We hope you enjoyed our cakes this week!

We have been ‘crazy’ busy over the past month. I have neglected to blog about the cakes that we have been doing; I’ll try and catch up on that! But, one of the cakes we made was for one of my favorite little kids. Harris is my best friend Mallory’s nephew. He is such a character! And, when it came time for him to pick a theme for his party he chose pirates. He also very politely, TOLD his mother that I was to make his birthday cake. So, we made him a pirate theme birthday cake with a map going around the sides and a tattered flag made from gumpaste on the top.
